WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:
1. If you have medications, secure them in case you have to leave quickly. 2. Move away from the shorelines and beaches, especially low-lying areas. 3. The front of the phone book shows the Evacuation Areas, most are within a quarter mile of all beaches/shorelines on Oahu. 4. If you are near the shore and must evacuate, you may simply WALK INLAND out of the shoreline area. 5. There are emergency shelters set up in case homes become uninhabitable. 6. Watch local news coverage (for example, KGBM 9 News), or listen to the radio for updates (for example, 88.1 KHPR). Suggestion: Use battery powered radios.
WHAT YOU SHOULD NOT DO:
1. Do not go near or in the ocean–DO NOT SURF. 2. Do not make unnecessary phone calls (landlines or cell phones). 3. Do not travel other than getting out of tsunami evacuation areas.
THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO DO IS DO NOT PANIC!
Suggestion: The next time you speak with your case manager, review your “Crisis Plan” which is part of your IRP.
Aloha and Stay Safe!!!
